Franklin D Roosevelt’s –a democrat and the 32nd US president- “new deal” program comprised of various resolutions that attempted to overcome the great depression, which according to the history.com staff, “was the deepest and longest-lasting economic downturn in the history of the Western industrialized world” (2009). The great depression started after the crash of the stock market in 1929 and continued till 1939. Franklin D Roosevelt was elected President of the United States in 1933 for this program specifically. One important idea this essay will illustrate on the “new deal” is how Roosevelt helped business and labor; which will elaborate on the National Industrial Recovery Act (including National Recovery Administration and Public Works Administration), and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

The National Recovery administration planned to set codes and the use of federal licenses. According to (xroads.virginia.edu) the logo of the NRA is a blue eagle symbol accompanied by the slogan “We Do Our Part” which was created by Hughes Jonson, who is “a former general named to head the NRA” (Appleby, Brinkley & McPherson, 1998, p.734). He created the logo to promote the program and to advertise it across the country. Many cheered and praised the blue eagle throughout the country, but unfortunately the National Recovery Administration did not achieve its target for “re-employment and recovery and had failed to hold companies to their end of the labor provisions”
