Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) became the 32nd president of the United States in 1933. His leadership inspired Americans during the worst economic crisis in the nation’s history. His expansion of Federal authority, called the “New Deal,” changed how the American people interacted with the government. During the early years of the Second World War, Roosevelt battled isolationists to support Great Britain. The Lend-Lease Act allowed Roosevelt to help the British fight Nazi aggression.
