Franklin Delano Roosevelt started giving us hope as soon as he was elected. He didn't waste any time and declared a bank holiday while Congress drafted the Emergency Banking Bill of 1933. It restored faith and stabilized the banking system. He passed many bills during his first 100 days as president and didn't stop helping to bring us out of the Great Depression. He got together with a group of university scholars and liberal theorists, known as his brain trust, to find the best way to help the struggling nation. Many people were losing jobs and losing money. He quickly started working on new ideas to imagine and make happen. Roosevelt's major work relief program, The Works Progress Administration, employed over 8.5 million people to build
