Today, 2017 mark the four freedoms speech from Franklin Roosevelt 76th anniversary. Franklin Roosevelt delivered his speech “The Four Freedoms Speech” on January 6,1941. Franklin Roosevelt was elected for president in 1940. Roosevelt created the four freedoms speech because he wanted to give hope to America and let them know that they are fighting for their freedom. Roosevelt spoke about how America should work with the British forces to defend these four freedoms.
The first freedom which is “The Freedom of Speech” is the most important freedom, it is also on the first ten amendments on constitution or the bill of rights. This freedom give people the power to offend themselves, which is important. People have their right to have their own opinion and do what they believe is right. The freedom of speech provides the right to use certain offensive words and phrases to convey political messages. Franklin Roosevelt wanted America to have values after the World War ll ends.

During the Great Depression, more than 20% of the U.S population were unemployed. So, Roosevelt created new deal programs included social security, unemployment insurance, aid to dependent children, and more for America.
