Friendship “A friend is someone who gives you total freedom to be yourself.” -Anonymous. In the novel Freak the Mighty, Max and Kevin could be themselves; there were no limitations. All in all true friendship allows you to truly be yourself. In the same way, a friend is someone you can trust and will always be there for you. What makes trust so important? In the novel Max was able to put Kevin on top of his shoulders and for this reason Kevin would be able to navigate. Kevin put enough trust in Max that he wouldn’t drop Kevin. Soon in the novel, Kevin had trusted Max enough to take him to see a Kevin hospital. Kevin mentioned that he was going to get a bionic body and bionic parts. Kevin had been a great friend and helped Max learn new things. Max had mentioned that it was too hard to write. Kevin with the large amount of knowledge that has decided to give him tips on how easy it was to write. One of the things that Kevin mentioned was that writing is basically speaking on paper. Additionally, Kevin also taught Max some vocabulary words to help him with words a little better. For instance Kevin was mainly known for using his rather fascinating words and Max didn’t know any if them therefore, Kevin had to carry a dictionary around with him. With the help of Kevin’s explaining and teaching, Max was able to get into honors classes. Kevin and Max could not be separated and had to stay with each other. Kevin would explain to Max what was being taught and Max was able to understand what was happening in the classroom. Even though Max knew the answers to the questions he just didn’t want to speak in front of his classroom. Teachers would allow him to give answers after class just one on one. Along with everything else, Kevin knew the story of the Knights of the Round Table and he explained it to Max. He explained how the knights were the most honored and the best of the best. The knights were at a round table because at a round table, there was no front or end. Therefore, they were all equal and there was no main person at one end and no one at the other end. Next in the novel there is a character named Tony D. He tried to gang up on Max and Kevin, being him and his friends, but Kevin was able to get them out of the situation. While Tony D started chasing them Kevin was trying to give directions. As soon as they were about to make a turn, Max realized he didn’t know his lefts and rights. Kevin would kick Max in the sides to tell him where to go. Max started running and they were soon coming face to face with a pond that they were previously at. Kevin had yelled at Max to go into the pond and he did. Tony D and his friends were trying to throw rocks at them but couldn’t reach far enough. Max was getting stuck in the mud and Freak was trying to help him get out but it was no use. When suddenly a cop car had comes and helped Max and Kevin get out of the mud and get them warm. Afterward they were trying to tell the police about Tony D but he and his friend were long gone. Kevin didn’t just hop off of Max’s shoulders and try to get away. He actually stayed and helped Max get away from the situation too. But that wasn’t the only problem, there were far more to come. Max’s dad had gotten released from prison. Even though he was released he had to be at least a mile away from the house. If he were to go near Max and his grandparents, he would be thrown back in jail. Sometime between midnight Max’s dad, Kane, had snuck into the house unnoticed. He grabbed Max and told him to not make
