The Multitasking Mess Family time is starting to fade. Game night is starting to become a thing of the past. In it’s place is family movie night. But it’s not the family movie nights I remember. It’s the family movie night where everyone “watches the movie” all while texting, instant messaging, and playing games on their phones. Multitasking, as most know, is becoming a larger problem as technology continues to expand. You always hear that it is affecting teenagers and kids, and that is true. However, us teenager aren’t the only ones falling victim to the perpetual cycle of multitasking. Believe it or not, multitasking is actually more dangerous for adults. Multitasking is perhaps most dangerous for all on the road. On the way to school each morning, my own dad starts up his car and drives. As he drives, he will also make e-mails, texts, and calls to friends and family members. As he does this, his attention is drawn from the road to his phone. He not only puts mine and his life on the line, he puts everyone else on the road at risk. Distracted driving takes too many lives, and multitasking is the reason for it. We all would laugh, cry, and smile as we watched movies that evoked many different emotions. This is how family movie night used to be. Now, it is just everyone being drawn to their phones.
