When you are batting there are four balls and three strikes. When you have four balls it means you get to go to first base. When you get three strikes you are out. In professional baseball, only wooden bats can be used. However, in high school and college baseball aluminum bats can be used. Baseball bats can not be any longer than forty two inches. Softball bats are commonly made of composite materials. They are also made out of aluminum. A softball bat cannot be any longer than thirty four inches.
