Do you enjoy receiving something for free? Do you tend to appreciate more when you have to pay for it? President Obama is proposing to give college students two years of free tuition. Many people feel excited and others are worry. The article “Obama Unveils Plan for Free Community College” written by Steve Benen, addresses several point of view. One point is the White House has not yet said how will the plan to pay for this proposition. Second, it is just talk or been a “lame duck,” meaning the President will not do it. The President Obama said over his appearance in TV on The State of the Union, where you assume to celebrate economic improvements, and all America is looking at you. Requirements to apply for the scholarships vary but some common ones are to write an essay, meet a certain GPA, and doing a small project. The aid offered by the private sector serves as a good source of complementary financial help. Teaching a student to value the aid received from the private sector will enable him to achieve more while studying. Those who receive aid without earning it by merit probably won’t think about the value of the opportunity being offered, not to mention the stress caused for the teacher because of the lack of interest, bad grades and indifference from the students. The USA runs on a free market economy where those who seek and take advantages of opportunities are the ones that win. That same principle should be applied to education; let the students value the education they are getting by teaching them to reach hard, ambitious academic and personal goals. Free government money will help them in the short run, but it will hurt them in the long
