Truman Essay - I Am Princess X The book I read this quarter was I Am Princess X by Cherie Priest. This book is about two friends named Libby and May who were separated by a tragic event, but work hard solving clues and hidden messages to get back together. They get help from some friends, named Trick and Jackdaw, who go along with them. Their friendship and bravery is tested when they are faced with scary dangers and strange events. There are many characters in this book who all have very important roles, but three stand out to me, May, Libby, and Trick. Libby is an artistic girl who loves to draw and design the character, Princess X, but she supposedly died in a car crash. May, her best friend, believes that she is still alive and didn’t die, but no one believes her since there is no proof. Trick is a friend of May’s who helps her prove that Libby …show more content…

One conflict is when the “Needle Man” kills Libby’s mother to kidnap her to save his dying daughter. This leads to the conflict of Libby and May returning to the Needle Man’s house to try to find out who he truly is. Of course, they get caught and have to run and hide from this crazy character. I think the climax of this story is when they are at the Needle Man’s house and they have to find a way to escape. He finds them which leads to a frantic time where they split up and run. Even though this is near the end of the book, it is the only time they all face the “bad guy” of the story. It then settles down when the police arrive and put the Needle Man in jail for his crimes. I think that the moral of the story is to always believe in friends and trust them. May trusted Libby to guide her along the way and to be there at the end and Libby trusted May to find her a keep the secret that she was still alive.
