Main Idea: I resolutely believe that the message that the author of “Sleeping Ugly” was trying to convey was, real beauty comes from the inside. This is evident in several instances that took place. Right from the beginning, it is stated “Princess Miserella was a beautiful princess if you counted her eyes… but inside… she was the meanest”. This definitely means that, although Miserella looked good to the eyes, her personality was absolutely terrible. Additionally, it is mentioned in paragraph three, “One day Princess Miserella rode out of the palace in a huff”. This statement suggests that Miserella has temper issues, which is obviously a negative trait. Furthermore, Miserella is repeatedly gratuitously arguing and being disrespectful throughout pages 34/35. Some key disrespects include “Princess Miserella was not pleased. She stomped her foot, … Miserella stomped her foot again, “stupid, stupid, stupid” said Miserella, etc.”. Conclusively, if someone “looks” attractive doesn’t necessarily mean they are the same on the inside or vice versa. Don’t judge a book by its cover negatively or positively. Miserella stamped her foot aggressively, which upset the old lady. The lady took her pine wand and turned Miserella’s foot into stone. Jade’s first wish was to turn back Miserella’s foot to normal. Though, that did not stop Miserella from defaming Jade’s choices. The old lady, once again, used her wand and made toads come out of Miserella’s mouth. Jade, on the other hand, used her second wish to undo Miserella’s mouth toads. As Miserella with her brutish behaviour, the old lady grew angrier.
