The French Revolution, a very considerable event in modern European history, began on July 14, 1789 and concluded on November 9, 1799. It was a time in France where there were political conflicts, conflicts between the monarchy, and mass corruption. The people of France wanted to end the absolute monarchy, corrupt leadership, tax code, and rigid social class structure that was currently controlling them and Kingdom of France. The Revolution took place in order to eliminate this corruption in France. Although there were many successes of the French Revolution, the failures far-outweigh the accomplishments of the event. The Reign of Terror was a period of time after the French Revolution where there were thousands of executions in The Kingdom of France. During the Reign of terror, the government executed the “enemies” of the state. The government wanted to eliminate all of the revolutionary elements because they were trying to grow new armies and secure food and supplies for the armies and cities. In order to do so, they had to sentence “enemies” to death. In addition, there was a lot of treason during this time period. Treason is where there is somebody in your government that is a trader, and is trying to overthrow things in the government. Furthermore, the terror erupted from the treason or “enemies”, as they wanted to strengthen their government again and protect the country from invaders. During this time period, everything was extremely violent. The Reign of Terror was a chaotic death scene, as enemies of the government were constantly being guillotines by the thousands. This was the main point of the Revolution. The people of France were trying so hard to get rid of King Louis XVI, which they did. However, they resulted with Napoleon, who also was a dictator and ran a monarchy. This is the greatest failure of the French Revolution. Not only did they receive many other failures, but they did not succeed upon their main goal; getting rid of a monarchy. This led to yet again more financial crises, popular discontent, inefficiency and political corruption. This is what started and was the outcome of the French revolution. With Napoleon in power, France could not establish a constitutional monarchy or a representative government, due to his abuse to power and inefficiency. When comparing the start and end to the French Revolution, it only furthermore explains the stagnation of the event. The French Revolution began with the absolute monarchy of Louis XVI and ended with the military dictatorship of Napoleon Bonaparte. All that the Revolution brought was violence and
