As an incoming freshman, college could be exciting but at the same time difficult as there are a number of new things that one did not learn in high school. While most people do have a declared major, everyone goes through general education. Something difficult about all the general education one takes is the different writing styles each department has. To make things simple, a style guide to writing for different disciplines could be given out to support them. While quantitative language is preferred for articles to be published (Dewald), the hospitality discipline includes both quantitative and qualitative language. As we see multiple articles in the hospitality discipline, we see that the field deals with human interaction and the human behavior. Therefore, most of the questions could not be solved with numbers and statistical datas. Instead, authors would have to use words in order to prove a point. Therefore, it is necessary to address the specific reference style they should use. Some of the rules that students must follow is the in-text citation with the author, year and then the page number. Although there is no specific rules for about using “According to”, just like how professor Dewald from the hospitality department and Purdue Owl mentions, APA papers do use a lot of this style of writing to present the author to the audience first before what their idea is. All of the the ideas together not supports your idea but more towards supporting one's essay so that it is professional, and properly follows the APA format
