The study of the human brain has changed the world. It has impacted the way we treat people with mental illnesses, physical challenges, and most importantly, explains how our brain functions. There are many subfields of psychology, several of them due in part to the research and dedication of two hardworking men: Sigmund Freud and Wilhelm Wundt. While both men focused on the brain, their practices were performed very differently. Wundt decided to open the first psychology lecture in Germany, starting the study of psychology at colleges. Freud, on the other hand, studied with a close partner, Jean-Martin Charcot, and they had many fascinating discoveries, including psychoanalysis- a system of psychological theory and therapy that aims to treat mental disorders of the conscious and unconscious mind.
