The main theme in Maze runner is friendship and the main character shows bravery in the story by taking control of the survivors situation. I showed how determined Thomas was to leave the Glades and escape the maze. He meets a lot of kids like him who got stuck there and tries to make friends so he can find out why he was there and who he can trust. Bravery is shown in the story because Thomas tries to lead people out of the maze and decides to be a maze runner and help Minho solve the puzzle. They are attacked by Greavers many times and he outsmarts them.
His biggest fear was to lose his father because of the bond that they had built. He gave up many things for his father like food and some opportunities. On page 107 it states, “In my father’s place lay another invalid.” This is when his father died. After his father died, it was almost a relief, but he was sad because he didn’t say his final goodbyes.

After watching The Island, Michael Bay’s dystopian film, Lincoln Six Echo, Jordan Two Delta, and all the other clones realize they have been dehumanized and are not treated like actual humans in the world. The clones also realize they are not consider true humans and are just solely made for the purpose of elongating millionaires’ lives. Michael Bay has created The Island to give an example of the determination people have to just simply live longer, even if it means to derive people of human qualities in the process.
