From ancient times to modern day, multiple social classes and culture have existed. They tell a group of people how to live, what to wear, how to talk, and how to breath. According to society one person cannot live in multiple social classes and exist in multiple cultures, though there are many to fit into. Back in the 1960’s, many levels of society were held in one nation: greasers, socs, nerds, jocks, hippies and more subgroups of each. S.E. Hinton failed to portray the culture and society of the swinging 60s in many ways, not including a few people groups and their practices in life being the generality of her many mistakes.

In this article Kaplan talks about the study of violence and political culture in New York. One of the main points addressed in the article was tavern violence and how among the working class men. The working class men were Irish immigrants whom experienced a great deal of internal conflict. This conflict arises from those immigrants who were American born and those immigrants who were native born.
Social inequalities between black and white people are no longer as distinct as they were a few decades ago. Nevertheless, many people still have a lot of prejudices against African-Americans. The unfairness of socioeconomic status can be seen in our daily lives yet it is something that we push to the back of our minds. By showing these social inequalities through the use of language, Toni Cade Bambara 's short story "The Lesson" raises awareness for the African-American pursuit of cultural identity and emancipation. The reader gains an insight into the world of a black working class girl, named Sylvia, who narrates the story in African American vernacular English (AAVE).

The governess claims to have seen ghosts of the late governess, Miss Jessel, and the deceased valet, Peter Quint, on the grounds of castle Bly. The ghosts that she sees throughout the novella are not real and were created by the governess, due to the social pressures that she faced working at Bly. “We don’t need no Education, at least not the traditional, compulsory, watch-the-clock-until-the-bell-rings kind.” In Ben Hewitt’s (Hewitt) article “We Don’t Need no Education” he brings up an interesting idea. An idea that children or more specifically his children do not need a traditional education. Instead of being confined between four walls, his sons, Fin and Rye, have a much larger classroom, the world around them.
Martha Nussbaum has experiences in writing about education related topics such as liberal education, already publishing a book called „Cultivating Humanity”. However her inspiration to write her book entitled “Not for Profit: Why Democracy Needs the Humanities” came from a person of the Spencer Foundation named Mike McPherson but also because of the fact that she was resident fellow at the foundation. In addition to this, her association with the Cambridge school in Weston, Massachusetts helped her by giving her optimism in what type of education she wanted to defend in her book. ( xii )
In Bruni’s discussion, a controversial issue that has been addressed is that education should provoke thought. In “The Wild of Education”, most of the classroom student will readily agree that education should provoke thought that causes growth. The purpose of this is that education has to educate, not shelter. School editing of content is happening to student comfort instead of education, and promotes the avoidance of struggle and failure. The author believes that education should be less sheltered because this will make student growth larger and bolder as opposed to sheltering them by banning books which will slow that growth. .
Social classes are quite the weird topic to discuss in society. It’s basically saying who is “superior” to who when it comes to talking about wealth, position, or pretty much anything in life. Homeless people are looked down upon for being poor, not dressing properly, and being unkempt, these kind of people are in the lower class. The class above that is the working class, which consists of people with a minimized amounts of education and jobs that don’t provide the good paychecks or the jobs are very dangerous, which means that the bad outweighs the good in this case. Then there’s the middle class, which consists of jobs that pay decent to good money, but not enough money to make them the cream of the crop since the upper class compromises of the rich, which only ranges from 1 to 3% of the U.S population.

I believe social classes have defined our society in many ways. In America, they separate people into three different classes: the upper class, middle class, and the lower or working class. According to Freire the “banking” concept of education is equivalence to the bank and the depositor. This concept explains the relationship between an oppressor and the oppressed. The teachers encourage the students to memorize the procedures and the facts about life.
