From ancient times to modern day, multiple social classes and culture have existed. They tell a group of people how to live, what to wear, how to talk, and how to breath. According to society one person cannot live in multiple social classes and exist in multiple cultures, though there are many to fit into. Back in the 1960’s, many levels of society were held in one nation: greasers, socs, nerds, jocks, hippies and more subgroups of each. S.E. Hinton failed to portray the culture and society of the swinging 60s in many ways, not including a few people groups and their practices in life being the generality of her many mistakes.
The school knowledge was based on facts and simple skills. Students was just given information without explanation or failed to make their own choices. The common theme was active and passive behaviors amongst students. The middle class school, the ethnic background and school

Thesis: Amongst the library of supernatural fiction and ghost stories written within the late 1800s, The Turn Of The Screw offers a direct commentary on the suppressed social fears of class change through the embodiment of ghosts. Introduction: Written in 1889, during the rise of supernatural psychical research and supernatural fiction, The Turn Of The Screw by Henry James tells the tale of a governess driven to insanity. The governess claims to have seen ghosts of the late governess, Miss Jessel, and the deceased valet, Peter Quint, on the grounds of castle Bly. The ghosts that she sees throughout the novella are not real and were created by the governess, due to the social pressures that she faced working at Bly. Her repressed desire to belong to a higher social class and her fears of trying to elevate her status were
Social inequalities between black and white people are no longer as distinct as they were a few decades ago. Nevertheless, many people still have a lot of prejudices against African-Americans. The unfairness of socioeconomic status can be seen in our daily lives yet it is something that we push to the back of our minds. By showing these social inequalities through the use of language, Toni Cade Bambara 's short story "The Lesson" raises awareness for the African-American pursuit of cultural identity and emancipation. The reader gains an insight into the world of a black working class girl, named Sylvia, who narrates the story in African American vernacular English (AAVE).
“We don’t need no Education, at least not the traditional, compulsory, watch-the-clock-until-the-bell-rings kind.” In Ben Hewitt’s (Hewitt) article “We Don’t Need no Education” he brings up an interesting idea. An idea that children or more specifically his children do not need a traditional education. Instead of being confined between four walls, his sons, Fin and Rye, have a much larger classroom, the world around them.
Martha Nussbaum has experiences in writing about education related topics such as liberal education, already publishing a book called „Cultivating Humanity”. However her inspiration to write her book entitled “Not for Profit: Why Democracy Needs the Humanities” came from a person of the Spencer Foundation named Mike McPherson but also because of the fact that she was resident fellow at the foundation. In addition to this, her association with the Cambridge school in Weston, Massachusetts helped her by giving her optimism in what type of education she wanted to defend in her book. ( xii )
In Bruni’s discussion, a controversial issue that has been addressed is that education should provoke thought. In “The Wild of Education”, most of the classroom student will readily agree that education should provoke thought that causes growth. The purpose of this is that education has to educate, not shelter. School editing of content is happening to student comfort instead of education, and promotes the avoidance of struggle and failure. The author believes that education should be less sheltered because this will make student growth larger and bolder as opposed to sheltering them by banning books which will slow that growth. .
I believe social classes have defined our society in many ways. In America, they separate people into three different classes: the upper class, middle class, and the lower or working class. Based on wealth and various occupations, social classes determine the population’s status in society. Social classes today define individuals and influence their actions. Although people born in a certain class may choose to stay there, they also have the choice of leaving.
If Plato points out the direction of liberal education, Jasper, to some degree, shows the path in a more detailed way, which informs the method of liberal education—self-education. Furthermore, Breiter understands the liberation in education in the way of getting away from schooling. For Bereiter, ‘To educate a child is to act with the purpose of influencing the child's development as a whole person'. This is in line with the classic liberal account of education as general and spiritual as opposed to narrow and vocational
When I first read the title of an article which is “We Should Cherish Our Children’s Freedom of Think” by Kie Ho, I instantaneously presume that this article is about the educational system which limits children’s chances to think freely and explore the world beyond. True, this article starts with unsatisfied immigrants of the America’s educational system and followed by the author’s opinion about the system after comparing his experience in learning in Indonesia with her son’s at America. Ho claims that America’s educational system is quite open and attributes to self-expression than other countries. I agree that giving freedom to think to children in education system enhances the thinking and innovative skills, promotes creativity and self-expression but in real life, it should has boundaries.

Education can be explained as the process of acquiring knowledge, skills, values, beliefs and habits, and is the most valuable resource that one could have in life as, firstly, education facilitates learning and critical thinking, secondly, it allows for dreams of the future in terms of success to become a reality and lastly, it prevents the children of today from risking their future due to the influence of environmental hazards (Brooks, 2006). After studying the points discussed, it can be said that education plays an important role in the development of each and every human being and is not on categorized under scholarly education but rather any experience that allows an individual to broaden his/her knowledge. Amy Gutmann, an American political theorist proposed a theory surrounded around the democratic state of education requiring parents and states - to surrender some educational authority to professional education staffs’, also indicating that the children of today do not just benefit from freedom of choice, or identification with and participation in the positive aspects of their family and political aspects of the society. Amy’s theory is based on the characterisation of the three models of educational control namely Locke’s Theory of Parental control,
According to Freire the “banking” concept of education is equivalence to the bank and the depositor. This concept explains the relationship between an oppressor and the oppressed. The teachers encourage the students to memorize the procedures and the facts about life. According to him the student doesn’t get the opportunity to explore their minds and fill inquisitive nature doesn’t get opportunity to mature. Freire criticizes this model because in his opinion the empty brains of students are filled with information coming from the teachers.
Karl Marx (1818–1883) was the most essential of all scholars of socialism. Marx's vision depended on a transformative purpose of flight. Society was included as a moving parity of contradictory strengths that produce social change by their pressure and struggle. Struggle, instead of quiet development, was the motor of advancement; strife was the father for all things, and social clash was the center of the authentic procedure. Marx trusted that the premise of the social request in each general public is the creation of monetary merchandise.
