When I first read the title of an article which is “We Should Cherish Our Children’s Freedom of Think” by Kie Ho, I instantaneously presume that this article is about the educational system which limits children’s chances to think freely and explore the world beyond. True, this article starts with unsatisfied immigrants of the America’s educational system and followed by the author’s opinion about the system after comparing his experience in learning in Indonesia with her son’s at America. Ho claims that America’s educational system is quite open and attributes to self-expression than other countries. I agree that giving freedom to think to children in education system enhances the thinking and innovative skills, promotes creativity and self-expression but in real life, it should has boundaries. …show more content…

During the author’s trip at Laguna Beach Museum, he saw children expressing their ideas by transforming paper lunch bags into different kind of unthinkable states. Instead of stuck with standardized and schematic learning, they manage to have platform for expressing themselves. In my opinion, the education system should be revised if it is not valuing the children development. This is because people tend to dismiss the creativity of the children meanwhile, children has different potential and need help and encouragement to unleash their potential. Recalling my experience learning literature in school, I would say that mine is quite similar with Ho’s. I did not have to memorize the whole literature book cover-to-cover and translate them in papers, but I only got right answers if only my answers were included in schemes although the question intended to enhance creative thinking. Not only in literature, every subject should be instilled with both factual and creativity segment and it can only achieved by not letting the children’s thinking from constrained with answer and solution
