The world is always changing. And those changes can have influences on many aspects of business, including training and development. Employers are increasingly understanding the importance of training and are using new knowledge to make it more effective for their employees. New trends are always emerging as we learn more about what makes learning effective and those trends will have an impact on how future training is conducted. The textbook gives several trends that will have an impact on training in the future. Companies are looking at ways that they can improve its sustainability, or maintain profits without having to sacrifice resources. There have also been many advances in technology that has changed the way that people communicate and learn. New knowledge about neuroscience and how the brain works and learns are also contributing. It seems these days that there is an app for everything. As it becomes easier to access training on multiple devices, it will be easier for companies to utilize mobile apps to aid in training. Currently, only about 8% of companies are using mobile learning apps (Wentworth and Lombardi). However, using mobile apps will become an asset for companies training programs. Especially among Millennial employees. Along with mobile apps, social media tools are also a trend that has and will continue to have an impact on training. Only 24% of the 59% of companies that utilize say that it is effective. However, it all depends on how it is being used. Many are using document sharing and forums but they are not using the more effective tools such as video and microblogs (Wentworth and Lombardi). Understanding the different ways that social media tools can be used will increase the effectiveness of those training programs and will help to provide an improved and more integrated training
