Gatorade began as a creation by researchers at the University of Florida to help its athletes get back essential nutrients to continue to compete. Over time, the creation turned into a very popular sports drink. Gatorade is used by most professional sporting teams to get the same results. To market their products, Gatorade usually comes up with clever and catchy slogans, created its own logo, and by celebrity endorsements. Some of these marketing strategies can prove to be beneficial or detrimental for Gatorade. Question I presented to its audience an edited picture of Gatorade’s lightning bolt and asked them if they recognized the logo. Twenty-five people were surveyed and ninety-six percent answered “yes” and four percent answered “no.” Fifty-two percent are females and forty-eight percent are males. The age range is from fourteen to eighty-six, with forty-four percent being in their teens, twelve percent being in their twenties and forties respectively, twenty percent being in their thirties, eight percent being in their fifties, and four percent being in their eighties. Thirty-six percent of are Native Americans, forty-four percent are White, eight percent are Hispanic/Mexican, and twelve percent are African American. Twenty-four percent are Early College students, twenty percent are RCC students, forty percent had an occupation outside RCC, and sixteen percent are retired/disabled. This marketing strategy is excellent for Gatorade to use. Twenty-four of the participants answered “yes”. The sole participant to answer “no” could not see the image clearly and was not able to give a firm answer. It can be determined this is an excellent marketing strategy for Gatorade because a vast majority of the participants were able to answer correctly. The data from this survey helps to present which marketing strategies are doing Gatorade good. Based on the data, by Gatorade using celebrities to endorse their products proves to be very beneficial for Gatorade;
