Geek Girl by Holly Smale is a fabulous book! It is charismatic, and the perfect read if one needs a soupçon of humor on a cold, dreary, and lackluster kind of day. It's relatable, funny, and heartwarming. In this high fashion adventure Harriet Manners is basically handed every girls dream job on a silver platter. Infinity Models want her to be a horse. Not really, they want her to be a model, obviously, but it's almost the same thing. Designers, hairstylists, and makeup artists alike dress her up real pretty and take photos of her and tell her how beautiful she is. Just like a show horse.

Yes, heartwarming. Geek Girl is about Harriet’s coming of age story, so to speak, and friendship. Books on friendship tend to be heartwarming, it's a trend in those kinds of books. Harriet goes to Russia for a fashion shoot for a couple of days and while she is gone Nat totally has her back. Even though Harriet is living Nat’s dream, Nat still defends Harriet while she's away. Parts of me were greatly touched by this, and I actually became rather emotional. When I was Harriet's age I didn't have any friends who'd do that for me. My friends were still pushing me off to the side because well, it was just me. My best friend at the time had recently decided that she found me annoying and childish and therefor I didn't have what Nat and Harriet have in this book. Every time I saw something to do with their friendship I was overcome with feelings of joy, peace, comfort, and hope. Coming of age stories follow the same trend that friendship stories do. Ever just read the magic that's dancing around on a page and think to yourself that you're so proud of the main character for overcoming obstacles that you're not sure you could've overcome? I know that in this book I was thinking that just about every single page, and it's because of these things combined that I found it
