For example, providing reassurance with an anxious patient who just finished hip surgery. Care also plays a major part when taking care of a unique patient. Caring influences my personal philosophy because it is the most important aspect of nursing.
Male nursing is on the rise in today 's nursing community. Males that have attended nursing school and worked at a hospital for the past forty years between 1970 to 2011 have increased two point seven percent to nine point six percent. In 2016 there were over 350,000 male nurses that work at a hospital. Males have many opportunities in the medical field, for example they can choose from a trauma nurse, a registered nurse, or a general nurse practitioner. In my opinion, male nurses benefit hostiptals in many ways.

As a nursing professional it will be my goal to improving the health and well-being of women, children and families. I am specifically interested in maternal and child healthcare. I would like to work with this population because there is a great need and the disparities in infant mortality rates have continued to increase over the years despite effort to decrease this trend. A mother’s health profoundly affects the health and well-being of her children so working to close the gaps in health disparities means reaching women prior to pregnancy and educating them on the importance of adopting healthy lifestyles.

In 1870, nursing had been learnt from the mothers to the daughters. Now it has been changed to the school education that the students learn the nursing skill from the nursing professionals and the education programs of nursing keep developing from the 1900s to now that the diploma school has been changed to BSN, AND, and the postgraduate school has also been replaced by Master degree, CNL, PhD, DNSc, ND and DNP (Martha, n.d.). Therefore, the people have more chance to learn and be the nurse. Education programs also produce more and more professional nurses for the world to develop the nursing profession. Nursing education provides the nursing theories and practical training for the students to help them learn the knowledge of nursing and their duties, in order to protect patient safety and the safety of the public.
This could lead to a dramatic decrease in nurses and possibly a nurse shortage. However, even though there is a large amount of older nurses presently in the field, there are a growing number of young nurses. This creates an intergenerational team of young and old nurses that could be very beneficial to hospitals. The older nurses would be able to pass down their knowledge and tips to younger nurses, allowing them to obtain years of knowledge/experiences just by learning from the older nurses. Also with changing stereotypes of gender roles, more males have entered the nursing field, increasing the amount of nurses.

It is very easy to get wrapped up in the day to day tasks that we complete as nurses. But in order to give our patients the best possible care, we must look at our day through a holistic lens. The following essay will outline the theory as created by the “lady with the lamp” Florence Nightingale. We will look at the different components that are important to a patient’s health and outline on to incorporate these components into current practice.

It is a pledge or promise that outlines a nurse’s commitment to delivering compassionate care. An adaptation of the Hippocratic Oath, it includes statements such as; I will do all in my power to maintain and elevate the standard of my profession, I solemnly pledge to practice my profession faithfully and devote myself to the welfare of those in my care (Triolo, 2009).
