Part One- History
General Electric was created by a man named Thomas Edison. Thomas Edison was born on February 11,1854. He was born and raised in Ohio. We think of him as a very smart man but it turns out that when he was little, he did very poor in school. His mother was a teacher and she started to teach him when they were at home. The main office is in the Rockefeller Plaza in New York City but it is not where the headquarter is located (GE). The headquarter is located in Fairfield, Connecticut. The headquarter in the United States is the main headquarter but there are several other headquarters in different countries (GE). There is a headquarter in Dubai, UAE; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Tokyo, Japan; Seoul, Korea, and Moscow, Russia; Austria, Europe; Belgium, Europe; France, Europe; Czech Republic, Europe; Hungary, Europe; Italy, Europe; and United Kingdom, Europe . The location of the companies can help determine how much money they make. In Korea, the companies there only make about $1.8 billion dollars. In Australia and New Zealand, they make about $3.6 billion. In Europe, they make about $4 billion. In Japan, they make about $4.6 billion dollars. In the Americas, which includes Latin America, they make about $8.2 billion dollars. In the Middle East, which also includes northern Africa and Turkey, makes about $9.1 billion. The Middle East and the Americas make the most money. The places that make more money, has more customers and better standards than the countries that don't have make as much money. Korea doesn't make as much money as the other companies in the other countries, but they still end up making quite a bit. All of these companies are making good money which helps define General Electric. General Electric is a successful company because they make products that most buyers
