In the bible Genesis Chapter 6: 1-4 is the story of Wickedness of Humankind. It tells the story of how human nature was corrupt and how god was unhappy with the actions of his creation. It wasn't what he had imagined for our world.
Genesis has many genres identified throughout the passage. There is no accurate way of knowing what time frame these events occurred in other than the fact of historical actions of the ancient world that pose the idea of historical genre. This is obtained from ‘J’, the Yahwest source which related to ‘sons of god’ which implies some sort of leadership that is believed by multiple biblical authors such as M.G Kline. A belief of hebrew mythology is where the other gods reference originates, Even so the advantage over the ‘daughters of humans’ brings the “misrepresentation of the order appointed by God” stated by W. Bruggemann. The passage hints at god’s yearning for morality and purity in the world with the message of God is the giver of life everywhere.
Most stories in the book of genesis overlap with each other but genesis 6: 1-4 doesn't relate to any previous stories apart from the unfortunate evil of humankind that was released upon he world. The flood is a result of this evil that is used in order to recreate goodness in our world. The passage is connected to chapters 7-11 in relation to the flood and noah the one god selected as the chosen one to save humankind. This is the beginning of gods deeds.
