Maybe two introduction sentences here about the importance of family. Family plays a huge role when it comes to the black community. The interaction between family members is what helps makes and develops a individual’s life. Black family’s uniting as a one can change an entire community. Throughout my family’s historical patterns, many of my ancestors started working at very early ages. Back in those times, it was the best option that kids begin to work in the fields and in the house to help support the family. Samuel would make sure that the kids would help on the farm before the went to school. Which shows how much of a close knit family they were and also how vital their participation was needed from everyone to pitch in so the family would be stable. Typically, on the farms many things were grown such as cotton, vegetables and watermelons. As time progressed there were still some family members that believed in the farming services. Although farming was the dominant skill set for most of my ancestors, many of them acquired other helpful and needed skills for survival such as cooks, sewers, writers, musicians, singers and entrepreneurs. Every aspect of my life I put my all into it, solely because that is what is in my blood. A strength that I could say I have because of my family would be having pride, dignity, and dedication. Not being ashamed of where I came from and working hard to be able to provide for my family and loved ones as I progress in life. Through this study of my ancestors I have learned the advantages of being a part of such a great family. Most importantly, I have learned the strength it takes to be successful. I have seen first hand from my parents, if you really want something bad enough you will do whatever it takes to see it through. Whether that be through my education, musical career, or my personal life, I choose to make the best out of whatever hand that I am dealt and continue to strive to be the best person that I can
