1. In order to “look through a text,” we tend to focus is on trying to understand the content of each text but, the goal is to understand the texts main points while collecting the information it is providing. We do this by reading each word while trying to view the images the author is saying so that we can get a better understanding of what the author is trying interoperate. The other process of reading critically is “look at a text” where other times we are trying to explore why the author choose that genre, persuasion strategy, style, and diction. We are understanding why they made that particular choices.

2. The seven strategies for reading critically are preview the text, play the believing and doubting game, annotate the text, analyze the proofs in the text, contextualize the text, analyze your own assumptions and beliefs, and respond to the text. I have already used are preview the text by looking over titles, headings, images, and such making assumptions of what the text will be about. Annotate the text by highlighting what might be important, want to look back on, and taking notes on what to remember. Analyze the proofs in the text by believing the reasoning the author wants you to believe. Respond to the text by asking myself questions like if the author gave out useful information. The strategies that are new to me and that I don’t pay enough attention to is play the believing and doubting game, contextualize the text, and analyze your own assumptions and beliefs.
