Critical reading is when that a reader applies certain processes, models, questions, and theories that result in enhanced clarity and comprehension. There are eight steps of critical reading one of which is learning about author, knowing what type of an author your expectations of the essay. Skimming through the text with in the first sentence in every paragraph and the conclusion reading quickly. During skim reading you are not trying to understand you are skimming for knowledge of the read. Explore your own knowledge and beliefs on the subject, briefly listing yours believes and information. Reflecting on the topic careful reading of the essay. Annotate is trying to find meaning in the author writing. Outline, the main subject each paragraph lists the support that thesis, maybe finding a solution to a problem. Free write is about writing what comes to mind. Rhetoric is being used in the court of law and political forums. Rhetoric is used and modeled throughout our life's. We often persuade others to agree on what we believe from clothing to politics. Rhetoric is often used in books, newspapers and magazines. A Rhetorical Analysis evaluates how an author came up with rhetoric communicate message. Writers of rhetorical analysis essays are asking why? how? but not "what? Of the authors text. "What "question are considered summarizing the text. Analyzing the rhetorical message, leads to an understanding of the background concerning the persuasive messages, allowing the analyst to make their own decisions furthermore forming their own
