Orwellian technology is far simpler than what we have today. In fact, Our technology is far more advanced and can give the government an idea of what we even think about, let alone what we throughout our day. The technology is not parallel to Orwell’s: it exceeds it by a wide margin. The main form of technology that was used for surveillance in Orwellian society was the telescreen. It resembled a large television embedded into the walls of every single room in the government. Since the civilians were expected to feel emotions like love and pride for Big Brother instead of one another, music was made by versificators as stated in Orwell’s 1984 “ … and sentimental songs were composed entirely by mechanical means on a special kind of kaleidoscope known as a versificator” Orwell (43) The technology Orwell describes here is similar to ours. We have this kind of music today. The majority of popular music nowadays is created on computers. The government would be able to watch it’s civilians even closer. They would be able to watch it’s civilians even closer. They would know with clear detail your routes to work, the times of day that you are at home and what times you pick up your children from school.
