George H. W. Bush, 41st president of the United states from 1989-1993, gave the speech, Address Before a Joint Session of the Congress on the State of the Union in January 29, 1991, touching upon new world order, achievements after Cold War and US legacy. To that end, he discusses his relationship with Russia and China, also the changes that happened to EU. He explained the prosperity and the freedom in the US and their relationships with Russia and Europe. The US sent military forces to Kuwait and fought Saddam’s regime afterwards, The US won and they did not just stop there, they entered Iraq and fought them, using strong military forces. Many areas in Iraq were freed and that encouraged them to revolt against Saddam, and Iraqi Kurdistan was one of them. “we seek an Iraq that uses its great resources not to destroy, not to serve the ambitions of a tyrant, but to build a better life for itself and its neighbors” ( George H. In other words, William J. Clinton does not want the issues that are occurring around the world be minimized and ignored. There are five challenges that he mentions to help the world change to better. First one is building more peaceful 21st century, second one is bringing their former adversaries, such as Russia and China into the international system as open, prosperous, and stable nation. Moreover, his aim is to build safety for their future generation. World trading and financial system for better living standards, is one of the challenges that he counts. Lastly, freedom as a top goal is his main goals that he wants to accomplish. “We must work hard with the world to defeat the dangers we face together and to build this hopeful moment together, into a generation of peace, prosperity, and freedom. Because of our unique position, America must lead with confidence in our strengths and with a clear vision of what we seek to avoid and what we seek to advance” (William J.
