I am passionate in joining the exchange to Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) is based on the following reasons: Firstly, I believe it is a golden opportunity for personal growth and to gain new perspectives on the globe. Georgia Tech is one of the leading universities in mechanical engineering to do a cultural exchange with my fellow schoolmates are so exciting to me. I have always been told that the US culture is very different to Hong Kong, yet I have never been there and so it will come true for me to get the first-hand experience, by living there for three months. In terms of leadership development, I am going to join the I-house, with a leadership residential program with half as local students and half as exchange students. We all can join various organizing committees to propose and run different kinds of cultural events such as film, sports, cuisines, community services, etc, which we do not have similar kind of organization run for cultural exchange in that diverse areas in HKUST. I also look forward to visit and swim in Georgia Tech’s swimming pool, as the Aquatic Center built for 1986 Atlanta Olympics, for my first time visiting venue of worldwide large-scale events, not to say it will be my pleasure to exercise there. …show more content…
This will be my first time ever having so few Hong Kong people around me and I will get much more opportunity to have a chat with international students, widening my network and to have a cultural exchange. In HKUST, I have been making friends with mostly Asian students and learnt a lot from them no matter about their culture or some history of their home countries or regions, and I would like to step out further in Georgia Tech to know more from friends from more different nations.
