Having worked for Valencia College for over five years, I am proud of Valencia’s dedication to excellence in education. I cannot think of a better way to continue my journey at Valencia College than to join the full-time Humanities faculty at this college. The mission and values of this institution have been a guiding force for me. They will continue to guide me towards my professional aspirations and provide a foundation for our students’ futures.
My education and background has prepared me to teach Humanities and Art History with an interdisciplinary approach. The Art History department at Florida State University partnered with other departments and The John and Mabel Ringling Museum in Sarasota, Florida to ensure their students understood the interconnected nature of the Humanities. I have used the same approach in my classes at Valencia College, Seminole State College, and Southern New Hampshire University. I have participated in Faculty Development for almost five years. I have applied Outcomes-based Practices, Learning-Centered Strategies, Alternative Delivery Methods, and Student Assessment to my courses, making every effort to ensure my students’ success. In 2014, I attended Valencia College’s Destination: Great Teachers in Action and hope to be there again this summer. In 2012 and 2015, I was awarded Valencia College’s Russia Summer Institute, and The Chesley G. MaGruder Foundation & First Union National Bank of Florida Humanities Fellowship.
