Overall I did well considering this was my first rhetorical analysis on a podcast. I was nervous for it because this is my first college essay, and I have never worked with a podcast before. It helped that I knew that this would not be the final graded essay too, because I knew that whatever mistakes I made, they are able to be looked over and made better. There were a couple parts of the writing process that I struggled with.

I struggled to get used to this writing process, especially with MLA format, since I never used it professionally as I did in this class. The summary essay was quite simple and straightforward, which is also something that I enjoyed. The research argument essay was also a bit of a challenge, but I felt like I did a well-done job. I liked that I was able to talk about a subject I enjoyed, and learn also how to properly use citing within my essays. Furthermore, although there were some challenges and some ups and downs within the essays, I did learn a lot about how to properly write.
First and foremost, I'm extremely excited for your class this year. I've always considered myself to be more of a writer than a reader, so your class seems perfect. Even though reading is essential in becoming a proficient writer, the mechanics and raw structure of writing is absolutely fascinating to me. Regarding my weaknesses, I’d like to develop my persuasive techniques, especially with using rhetorical devices-- specifically pathos-- within my analytical writing; I find it challenging to smoothly integrate more artistic methods into technical essays. I take constructive criticism very seriously, as I learn best when I see specific areas where my writing could be improved.

The way I write has gotten sloppy and careless but I saw some improvement this fall semester In semester in English 1301, I have relearn grammar and sentence structure.
English 102 Reflection During the course of English 102, I took this year of the spring semester. I have accomplished a variety of goals I once thought were impossible. I have not only grown as a writer and a student but as an individual as well. I feel that through my experience of this English course, I have achieved knowledge and self-confidence to step out into the real world.
The weekly reading assignments were very helpful. Some of the topics were great refreshers of common mistakes made when writing; these knocked some of the cobwebs in my mind loose. The other topics with sample writings gave me an idea of what to do. The instructor feedback and the revision recommendations were probably the most helpful tools in my composition process.
Throughout the term there has been many writing assignments —big or small— that helped reflect my writing process or the process itself. In the beginning of the course I felt like I was an “ok” writer, but lacked some skills such as: organization, sentence variety, and vocabulary. Also, I did not like to write and had a feeling of dislike when forced to write. I felt like I improved on everything I wanted and was seen throughout the semester. I know how to organize my ideas, the worksheets given in class to work on sentence variety really helped, and vocabulary was built on some level.
Being a part of this course has helped me improve my writing in different areas such as my grammar, editing, and planning. Being that, when I got back my teacher 's essay edited the first thing I noticed was all my grammar and my paragraph structure were all off. As a result, after I turn my essays in I always review my paragraphs and sometimes I even ask my friends to read over my essays to see if I need to improve either my paragraph structure, thesis or conclusion. Another, way I tried to improve my grammar, editing skills, and planning is
ENG-122 Reflective Essay My writing process has changed tremendously over the course of this class. I feel more accomplished, confident and I feel sometimes that my ideas and thoughts just come in to my mind out of nowhere and I start writing about anything now. I pay attention to my punctuation and grammar more as I have polished them more now, not only when I write but then others write as well. I am constantly looking for errors and I highly think this is helping me a lot in my career.
Additionally, I now see where I can make improvements in my writing to become a more refined college level writer and use what I learn here to help me with various degrees of my life outside of the classroom. For this portfolio, I revised the first essay we did in the class, the "Summary and Response" essay. Furthermore, this essay a mere five pages seems like it should have been so easy, but then it was most challenging.
My expectations coming into the course were high and remained high throughout the duration of the course. The essays I wrote in the class really challenged me to progress in my writing skills. The illustration essay really served as an example of what not to do when writing at a college level. My approach of the essay was really misunderstood and grammatically incorrect.
My journey in this English 3001 course during the past ten weeks, and over the course of taking is English class I have grown and learned more that I thought it is necessary for me to know as a student.
