Abstract Introduction What is Gestalt Therapy? Gestalt Therapy is a kind of therapy that focuses entirely on that individual. The past and present idea and view of Gestalt therapy are different., it did not started well but it changes overtime. The therapist looks at the client as a whole person, and did not placed any special interest in other parts of the client (Corey, 2009). Clients that portrayed characteristic that are more noticeable will be pointed out. In addition, clients will be told if they showed characteristic without they realizing themselves (Corey, 2009). It is a step-by-step approach by the therapist to the clients. Clients are encouraged to learn to grow up by their own and to deal with problems by themselves (Corey, 2009). Fritz Perls, the originator and the creator of the theory, he uses his very own unique technique to let the clients aware of their situation. It can be might making them mad, or upsetting them. Even with the struggle, Fritz Perls work were recognized by the neo-gestaltist, with they saying that Fritz Perls theory are linked to the classical gestalt theory (Wagner-Moore, 2004) Present The modern days, Gestalt theory is more refined. It no longer has the harshness and provocation like what Fritz Perls did to his clients. The therapy has changed its approach, by going to a softer and much more gentle approach to the clients (Wagner-Moore, 2004). The older days of gestalt therapy are psychodrama techniques. The original ideas of Fritz Perls were retained for most of it but with a light and average approach (Wagner-Moore, 2004) The aim of Gestalt therapist is to create the awareness for the clients regarding their surrounding. Fritz Perls himself have the skills of frustrating the clients, which he intends to do so to let the clients in being themselves (Corey, 2009). By doing so, the clients are to be exposed of his or herself of their current situation, understanding their own emotions (Wagner-Moore,
