809 Words4 Pages

Declining arctic ice, rising sea levels, decreased snow cover, glacial retreat, warming oceans, shrinking ice sheets extreme events, ocean acidification. What do these have in common? Two words: Global Warming. The Earth’s global temperature has change throughout history but never have the Earth’s temperatures have been as high as they are now. After the Industrial revolution, global warming has increasingly becoming a threat. Consequently, global warming is becoming a bigger threat that needs to be addressed before even more serious damage is done. “Scientific evidence for warming of the climate system is unequivocal” -Intergovernmental panel on climate change. One of the many questions that scientists and people alike are asking and trying …show more content…

Evidence to support that humans are the main reason for global warming is in the book “Global Warming and the Political Ecology of Health” when the text states “The sheer volume of mounting data of diverse sorts has convinced most climate scientists that the global warming, that it is increasingly threatening to human life and well-being, and that it is largely the result of human or anthropogenic activities, particularly since the Industrial Revolution” (Baer/Singer, 3). This means that human ‘activities’ are causing global temperatures to rise, along with the burning of fossil fuels, pollutants in the air, and power/transportation. Most people nowadays have a high carbon footprint that collectively contributes greatly to rising temperatures. To support this,in the book “Global Warming and the Political Ecology of Health”, the authors site from Dessler and Parson, saying that “Many aspects of human society and well-being- where we live, how we build, how we move around, how we earn our livings, what we do for recreation- still depend on a relatively benign reduced and obscured in modern industrial societies by their wealth and technology”(Baer/Singer, 3). This can support the claim that humans are the main cause for global warming temperatures to rise dramatically in the past years. Because of humans taking responsibility of global warming, it is the human’s responsibility to help nurture the environment back to what it used to
