The dark sludge like waters of the drug world often pollute the entertainment industry, more often than not, leaving a destructive trail that destroys a person’s life. In Metallica’s 1986 album Master of Puppets: Track 2 “Master of Puppets,” is a chilling story about cocaine and heroin use, and the destruction it can cause to someone’s life. As time continues, it’s evident that the polluted waters of the drug world have not yet left the entertainment industry, causing multiple deaths. Most rap artist brag about their use of drugs, guns and women, usually in equal increments. However, in Eminem’s 2010 album Recovery: Track 2 “Talkin’ 2 Myself”, track 6 “Going Through Changes”, and track 11 “Cinderella Man”, is his own personal story of his …show more content…

In his song “Talkin’ 2 Myself”, he explains how he abused prescription drugs to numb the pain from this loss. As time continues, his drug use increased to the point of it changing his perspective on life. In “Going through Changes” lyrics, “I sit alone in my home theatre/ Watchin' the same damn DVD/ Of the first tour/ The last tour/ He was still alive/ And it hurt sore/ Fast forward/ Sleepin' pills'll make me feel alright./ And if I'm still awake in the middle of the night/ I just take a couple more/ Yeah you're motherfuckin' right/ I ain't slowin' down for no one/ I am almost homeward bound.”, he explains how his dependence on prescription drugs has pushed his life into a downward spiral; landing him at the threshold of Death’s door. “Wake up in the hospital/ full of tubes/ plus somehow I'm pullin' through/ Swear when I come back I'ma be bulletproof”, he explains after waking up in the hospital, he realizes that this is not what his friend would have wanted; as a result he soon checked himself into a rehab facility. After being clean for some time, he feels like he is on top of the world. In “Cinderella Man”, “Some of us don't get a second chance/ (Amen!)/ But I ain't blowing this one/ (Amen!)/ Naw man, haha/ (Amen!)/ Shit I feel like I can do anything/,” he appreciates the second chance he was granted and refuses to go down that road again.
