This morning was the same as every other uneventful morning since the world turned upside down and no one seemed to notice but me. I roll over to take a glance at the clock, 6:44am. My alarm would be going off in one minute, and I already dreaded the bleeding sound it was going to bring. I smack the top button the second it begins to shake, and I drag myself out of bed. As I head to the kitchen to brew some coffee and make my usual breakfast I call for Ace, my hyper border collie. Ace is the only thing that I have left from my old life, and I admire him for a million reasons. Goldcrest consists of identical lives and forbidden emotions. I don’t care all that much for relationships, but I despise the government for taking away my parents. There is one thing that brightens my mornings though, and that is Mr. Dave's Diner. I stop there every morning to get a sausage egg mcmuffin before my long day. As I walk in, the diner smells fresh and warm. I can hear the eggs popping on the pan and smell the coffee filling the room. I pay the cashier for my order and begin to walk over to the counter to pick it up when a girl with a bright blue dress bumps into me. I start to think about what will happen to a girl like that, beautiful, lighthearted, and soft. I imagine she can’t last here long she is sure to fall in love. Which makes me think of my parents again. I don’t remember every detail about them, but I have photographs from when I was little. My dad was tall with dark hair. He had sharp green eyes and big white teeth. He looked just like me, except my hair was a little lighter. Our similarities make me miss him even more. I would have really liked to get to know him more. My mom was also tall, with long brunette hair and small freckles on her nose. Her eyes were a bright blue, and her smile was so big all the time. After seeing what happened to my parents, I had a plan. I am going to work for a few more months to get enough money to pay the passport fee to leave the state. The passport fee was put in place when we got a new mayor and the pill came. It’s an expensive fee but I began working at age 14, and my parents left me what they had. Once I have enough money and turn 18, I am traveling to New York City to run my own business and live my life the way I
