Golden Rice Stakeholder Meeting Reflection

My experience for the stakeholder’s meeting and writing my paper was different. For example in the stakeholder’s meeting we discussed the situation if golden rice should be given to children in public schools based on our roles, which was different to the paper because it was more about the facts and your role wasn’t a part of it. For the paper I thought having to find out how golden rice was created was challenging, and for the stakeholder’s meeting I thought talking about if children should eat golden rice in public schools was challenging. The benefit for each is that I learned new information.

Studying golden rice really impacted me when we learned about DNA. The reason that it impacted my learning of DNA was that I was able to see and research how DNA and golden rice was related. Another good thing about the work with my partner is that I had someone that could double check if my paper was good. I don't really think there is anything my partners could of done differently because they were there to help me whenever I did need help on something. To have been a better partner I could’ve helped my partners if they needed any help when they were making their opening statement.

The DNA extraction lab contributed to my learning this unit because I was able to see the DNA personally. I was also able to learn from the steps because there was an explanation of why we would do something and what it would do to our saliva and cheek cells. This also helped me understand more from why we would do certain steps.
