He has never been to a school and knows nothing about new technology or anything that is new. The school’s tradition is that they vote the biggest nerd to be president. So Cap gets elected and He becomes president. He also gets the responsibility of putting together a dance. So through all the bullying Cap still tries his best to make the best dance ever.
Through a series of coincidences and with a little bit of good luck and hippie wisdom, Cap plans a Halloween dance, connects with the students and helps them with their problems, teaches the students how to tie-dye, and involves the entire school in his hobbies, such as T'ai Chi and playing 60's music. This attracts the attention of one of Zach's close friends, Naomi, who, despite helping Zach haze him, is intrigued by his relaxed, kind, and brave behavior, leading her to eventually kiss him. During all this, Cap is becoming more popular, making Hugh extremely jealous. Also sick of Cap's popularity, Zach convinces Hugh to help them take down Cap. On the day of C Average's football game, Hugh dresses Cap up in the jersey of C Average's rival.
Books express who the author is or who they want to be. They show the imagination and, sometimes, the difficulties of the author’s life. In Bad Boy, by Walter Dean Myers, the author shows the difficulties in his life and how he overcame those obstacles in the shape of a memoire. While I appreciate the truths about the world told in Bad Boy, and the uncensored quality while addressing racial issues, I am not too fond of this book. I definitely do not hate Bad
Donnelly he has to go to C Average Middle School. When Cap got there he was shown around by Zach Powers, the most popular boy in school. At the time, Zach was very rude and clever. I know this because Zach said Cap’s clothes look like “pajamas--homemade pajamas and his shoes were something out of a social studies project”. Zach and Naomi tormented cap by a fake girl named Lorelei Lumbley that wrote him love notes that said stuff like “meet me at room B-376” and other things worse such as put cap in a different jersey when the pep rally was starting so the football team would tackle him , Zach showed Cap were his locker was.
In “The Outsiders” by S.E Hinton, we are introduced to a wide range of characters whose actions and personalities are widely affected by the environment in which they grew up in. This is a very pervasive theme in the book, as the main element of the story is the rivalry between the street gangs “The Socs” (short for Socials), and “The Greasers' ' In Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Socs are depicted as a gang of well-off rich kids who aren’t afraid to show it off, and the Greasers are the polar opposite of this, most of the Greaers grew up impoverished, without one or both of their parents, or grew up in abusive households. This dynamic and disparancy between the individuals of the gangs leads to some interesting interactions between the characters.
The Dollar Kids by Jennifer Richard Jacobson has an amazing conflict development. The main character is Lowen, who deals with depression as his best friend Abe dies in a shooting at Giorgio's and Lowen blames himself for it. Then when he thinks he can’t stop thinking about his friend’s death, he picks up an article that states “Here in Millville, you can win the prize of a one dollar house!” This makes Lowen think that he can escape the bad memories of his town. When his family and him go to Millville, they realize that the town is not as great as the paper showed.
6. During the film Mr. Fredrickson shows numerous models of relational development and maintenance on coming together. These were displayed by initiating, experimenting, intensifying, integrating, bonding. The first stage Mr. Fredrickson goes through is initiating with Russell, this happens when Russell shows up on his door step to ask if he could assist him, so he can earn his wilderness explore badge.
She creates stories and makes assumptions. She also prefers to talk, not listen. For example, when Beth and Calvin go to play golf, Calvin tells Beth that Conrad “needs to know that you don’t hate him”. She gets defensive immediately and starts to accuse Conrad of telling lies to his father, convinced that Conrad is against her. She shows signs of violence, including labeling Instead, she should control her stories and presume that people are basically good.
As the author spends time with the Palestinian lady, they start to know each other better. “We called up her son, I spoke with him in English. I told him I would stay with his mother till we got on the plane. She talked to him.” The quote showed that Naomi was trying to help the lady feel more comfortable bu using her own precious time to take care of the Palestinian woman.
Against School by John Gatto is an essay that attempts to persuade the reader that public education fails to educate its students. The main way Gatto tries to persuade his audience is by presenting anecdotal evidence and by showing the historical narrative to the education system of the Untied States. Gatto attempts also attempts to reach out to his audience by referring to commonalities in the public education system that have been experienced by many people. Overall the essay is persuasive but lacks any practical authority. The first thing the author does is provide background, background on himself and the situation with education in the United States; and, this is what the author primarily does.
In America, people talk amongst themselves about wealthy and successful people and during the discussion many think of people who have been educated in a traditional schooling system. John Gatto argues in his article “Against School” that this traditional schooling is indeed not necessary to end up educated and successful. Through the use of rhetorical strategies, such as his personal experiences, expert testimony, and anecdotes, Gatto backs up and argues in points. Gatto begins his article by talking about his personal experiences as a teacher and how the education system let him down. Gatto states “The obligations to amuse and instruct myself was entirely my own, and people who didn’t know that were childish people.”
I knew it was the turning point in our relationship.” That statement proves that Naomi is going with the flow with bullying Cap though inside she doesn't want to but just because it help her
She knew that Twilly saved her life so Mrs. Starch knows that she should thank her in return, and if she didn’t care for the panther could have died easily. Next, Nick knew it was right for him to fall from the tree knowing
“Running away won 't help.” Johnny was right. Ponyboy had people that loved and cared for him... they just didn 't know how to show it!” In the book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, proves that no matter what type of Social class you are; Greaser or Socs, family is most important and will help you get through the difficult parts in life.
Initially, Cap is picked on by Zach Powers and his friends. When he starts school Cap is by far the weirdest kid in school so they elect him school president to make him look like a fool. While they are doing this Cap has no idea of what's going on. For instance Cap says “ I shouldn't be president, l-I don't know anybody's names”. Zach and his classmates are tormenting him to make his year miserable.
