It is important for an administrator to a good mentor and not just a manager. A good mentor is one who helps others grow and excel in what they do. It is essential that as a mentor you give positive feedback and support and understanding. That’s why I have put together a four week plan to support and mentor my employee that is having issues performing their duties.
Therefore my plan for the four weeks in supporting and mentoring my staff member who was struggling to meet the expectations of the job is to do the following:
A good mentor supports by tackles the issue right away and doesn’t wait for the matter to intensify. Discover what is the base of the employee not meeting the job’s expectations.

I would as questions like: How can you/we make things better, and What are do you think needs improvement? Also, in this meeting I would handle the first issue with time management by first talking to my employee to address the issue about them not meeting the expectations of being on time. I would then reiterate what my expectations are on timeliness at work and try to find out what is interfering with their priorities at work (Time). I would also sit with them and come up with a plan on how to improve their time management skills and suggest training classes on time management. Then to handle the other issue with maintaining confidentiality I would tackle this issue by again addressing the issue right away and not wait for the matter to escalate. I would talk to my employee and remind them of the confidentiality standards that we have on maintaining all information of the company, confidential at all times. I would also let them know about their legal obligation to keep information and records private and also the consequences for violating the confidentiality standards. In this meeting I would help my employee to reflect on the matters at hand. I would ask them the following question: “Is is there anything that could have been done greater thinking back on this week”?
