Philip Levine’s poem Gospel is about a man’s viewpoint on life while receiving bad information. Throughout the poem the speaker uses similes, metaphors, synechdoches, rhetorical questions, and personification to explain more to the readers. The beginning lines explain and give background information to the readers on how the man viewed the world. As the poem goes on the tone of the poem starts to shift to a sense of depression.
The book The Gnostic Gospels by Elaine Pagels, is very informative and though provoking. For the review I have selected chapters two and chapters five. These two chapters will provide the material as we discuss Gnostic beliefs, and the evolution of the early church. We will also discuss the conflits, between “orthodox” and “heretical” beliefs and ideas, and we will also dive in to what audience Pagels was trying to reach with her text.
This religious study will define the evolutionary growth of cultural and racial diversity of the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) in the late 129th and 20th centuries. The original pietisten philosophy of the Swedish protestant movement defines the foundations of the ECC in the late 19th century. However, the formation of Mission Friends societies throughout the United States, and especially in the Chicago area, prompted a break towards a more radical evangelical ideology. These “conventicles” would define a distinct American style of evangelical practice through the leadership of Carl Olof Rosenius (1816-1868) and eventually, under the leadership of Paul Peter Waldenström (1838-1917). These cultural shifts would occur during the Great Migration
The book The King Jesus Gospel by Scot McKnight describes the current Christian culture as being a “salvation culture.” This culture places focus on a person’s salvation rather than making Jesus the Lord of their life. McKnight calls people to steer away from this culture and adopt a new culture in which the entire word of God and becoming a follower of God is center of your life. The salvation gospel is evident in American Christian culture today, as our society is very focused on numbers, statistics, and personal success.
The 95 theses is a document that was written by Martin Luther. The ninety-five theses was created in October 31, 1517. Martin Luther is still really popular today in history. Martin became a monk. A monk was a spiritual man who devoted his life to christ.

The New Testament highlights several Scripture reading concerning false practicing and beliefs in certain religions such as: (Matt.7:15-16, 24:11, Matt. 24:5; 24; Mark 13:22, 2 Cor.11:4, 2 Cor.11:13-15, Ga.1:8, EVS). These Scriptures are much valued, because God did not want His people deceived theologically and academically concerning His promise for His people. Therefore, the author Ron Rhodes writes, The viewpoint of those who hold to historic, evangelical Christianity, a “cult is any religious movement that claims to be derived from the Bible and/or the Christian faith, and that advocates beliefs that differ so significant with major Christian doctrines that two consequences follow: (1) The movement cannot legitimately be considered a
Jesus preaches to the disciples giving them a list of blessings which are known as the Beatitudes. He conveys the message in a way that is out of love for them. If they follow his teachings they will be closer to getting salvation in the Kingdom of Heaven and therefore living a life of meaning and purpose. As said in Chapter 5 of the Gospel According to Matthew, “Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven“(p. 50).
It is interesting that two of the four gospels give us narrative of the early life of Christ. Each one, and Luke, has their own unique writing style. Matthew is writing to the Jewish Christian to encourage them in their faith that Jesus is the promised Messiah of the Jews. Luke account is to the Gentiles Christian to give them an accurate and historical explanation of the life of Jesus.
Through taking a semester of Life of Christ I was given the opportunity to take a deeper look at the importance behind the gospel. I learned a vast amount of information that has been very beneficial to my faith. Three concepts covered in this class have especially helped me grow in my personal relationship with Christ. The Atonement, Resurrection and Return units have helped me develop a deeper understanding of Christianity and have helped me better answer questions that I may face when interacting with non believers.
The Gospel of John positions love as the building block for what sets everything in motion. According to this gospel, love is resembled as the quintessence of God, and those who love Jesus will reap the benefits. Plans and agendas, don't work out well for those who do not love Jesus. God's most important gift to mankind is His love through Jesus Christ. This is a message that the world needs to hear and that witnesses must proclaim.
To sum up, as soon as we all get older and wiser we will realize how much we are worthy and that we will never be
The story from the gospel of John, in which Jesus tells his disciples to cast their fishing nets off the right side of the boat; illustrates the moral dilemma that we are currently facing today, albeit not the way Christians would perceive. In this story, Jesus' disciples were unsure of what to do after his crucifixion and some of them had decided to go fishing one day. As Jesus' resurrection was unbeknownst to them, the disciples did not recognize Jesus was standing on the shore when he asked if they had caught anything yet, which they had not. So as an act of providence, Jesus commanded them to cast their nets on the right side of the boat where they had caught so many fish, they could not pull the net back in, instantly recognizing their

While the other gospels emphasize the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven, John instead emphasizes new life found in Jesus. It’s from John that we get Christ’s famous claim “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me” -John 14:6. Jesus frequently uses metaphors to hint at his identity. John records more of these analogies than any other gospel, giving us some of the most famous word pictures for Christ.
