Many people believe that everyone has their own truth — “That may be true for you, but that’s not true for me.” Others argue absolute truth does not exist, but that statement itself declares a truth and contradicts itself. Understanding truth is critical. So critical that Jesus came to testify to the truth (John 18:37). He is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). Knowing Jesus and knowing His word means familiarizing yourself with the truth. I want to be someone who knows truth, who teaches truth, and who lives truth. I learned that Christ-like service is not an act, but a heart issue. With a selfish heart, it does not matter what you do — it is not service. But, if you have a selfless heart and act on it, you are serving and showing the love of Christ. No better way to share Christ exists than to serve and love. Today, I try to do just that. Being blessed with many opportunities to do so, I serve, and I love. Leadership means influence, but influence through serving. I do not believe I am leading unless I am serving those around me.
