A president is elected based greatly on his abilities to lead. A leader is someone that earns and inspires his supporters. Ronald Reagan was an excellent leader; he was an obvious choice to be the 40th president. Although I do not plan to run for president, I intend to motivate and earn the respect of those around me. I have been a prudent leader in my Boy Scout troop, my band, and my family. I will continue to pursue effective leadership positions throughout my college education and my career. Before I get to inspire my supporters in the future, I must lead and galvanize the people around me today. I am fortunate to have a loving and supportive family, but I have had to accept leadership roles within my family. Despite the fact that I have two older brothers, I seem to be the leader of my siblings. My brothers have not given back to my parents like my parents deserve, so I have been giving all that I can. My brothers still live with us, but they perform meager acts around the house. Unfortunately, they succeed well in stressing out my parents. For the sake of what I would call family stability, I strive to inspire my brothers and my younger sister to work as a cohesive unit with my elders. I will be the first of my family to attend a four-year university, so there is extensive pressure on me to succeed. Fortunately, I am not one to give up. My parents want so badly to send me away to pursue my dreams, but our finances are not up to par. It seems like good things do not always come for good people like my parents, but I believe that by grasping the reigns and working hard, I will pull my family far away from despair.
