As for Service, I’ve always enjoyed aiding others in any way possible. I find a particular sense of fulfillment when I’m able to be of use to others. To me it’s so much more than getting the service done, it’s about making a difference in someone’s life. I come from a background where very few people helped my parents when
I learned that Christ-like service is not an act, but a heart issue. With a selfish heart, it does not matter what you do — it is not service. But, if you have a selfless heart and act on it, you are serving and showing the love of Christ. No better way to share Christ exists than to serve and love.
Listen my grandchildren, to the story of my past, the good and the bad, how your grandfather and I met, and the cruelty of the world around us. It was the date November 9, 1938. I was playing at my best friend, Rebecca’s house. Her house was a part of her father’s shop, which sold everything from shoes, to toys, to makeup, to clothes, anything you could ever imagine.
Serving others not only gave myself a feeling of gratification, it gave me a piece of mind to want to continue to help my community. With this learning experience I will be able to know what it is like to do good for others. I have loved the experience of seeing others smile, and appreciate something I have done for them. When I lead others at Sky Kamp, for example, I found in these young teenagers humor and an excitement to learn. Some were different from others, most of them were shy, but the young teenagers that knew each other were more outgoing.
Goal Number One I didn’t know it yet, but the way I viewed the game of lacrosse was about to change drastically. It was a normal day for me. I was in eighth grade, and I was getting ready for school.
As a Christian, I understand the importance of service. I understand that it is almost a necessity. Some people have so little, yet somehow they manage to pull through the day. It is the job of people who were blessed with more to give back and help those who are unprivileged.
My desire to serve others was influenced by my brother. He continually gave to others while battling cancer. I am continuing his legacy by serving at local schools and church. I volunteer for Kids Crossing, at church which is a program that allows parents to drop their children off to an age appropriate Bible study. I enjoy becoming a part of these children’s lives because I get to see them grow in their relationship with God.
Service is something that I enjoy to do because I get to help others. There are a lot of people that need help in this world, and small acts of service can go a long way. Throughout high school I have done many acts of service. I have volunteered at many different organizations in the Cedar Valley. During Christmas time I have rang the bell for the Salvation Army.
Sometimes I am disappointed that many people in this generation disregard serving and thinking to serve is only for minimum wage workers. However, I am compelled to express that volunteer service is the greatest work of all because many people sacrifice their time, effort, and mind to help other people in need. I have learned that and experienced a value that I can 't forget. I gain greater joy when I get to serve people for free than when I
This mission trip showed me that, I love helping those in need. It’s a great feeling and even a greater feeling when you see them reach their goals. Its
The gift of serving people comes from being able to go to them without pride. Many people, me included, have a difficult time accepting just how far God would go to serve humbly. The incomplete idea that it was humanity, in the person of Jesus; on the cross being humiliated by death is much easier to accept than the truth that it was God Himself. Limiting the promise and power of God, in this way, takes outrageous pride, which I must repent in order to be effective as a
Service could mean just being there for someone and providing emotional support. But it doesn’t stop there. There are more opportunities that I learned of, for making the world a better place to live. You are spreading goodness in the world and not for selfish reasons.
