Graduation Speech: Center-Stanton High School

Center-Stanton High School has three core values that are stated in the motto. The first part of the motto is knowledge. Knowledge is going to be a huge part of the next chapter of my life. I will have to use all of the knowledge that I have learned over the last eighteen years of my life to make sure that I become a somewhat successful adult. Also, I will need to make sure that I am willing to take in new knowledge. In the coming years, I will figure out who I am and have to learn everything that I need to know to become a teacher. When I become a teacher, I will need to master the skill of passing on knowledge to students in a way that they will comprehend easily. What does this word really mean? I feel like that as we get older we figure out that this word does not just have a simple definition, and that it changes throughout our life. As I went through high school I feel like I gained a better understanding of how to go about showing someone that you respect them. The word means more than being nice to someone, but also finding ways to show them that you care and want to know what they think. I also realized in order to find respect you must put others before yourself. I feel like this will be very important in the next few years of my life because I will be meeting new people and making new friends. In order to be a good friend and classmate, I will have to work hard to respect my peers’ ideas and try to figure out why they think that way before I jump to conclusions about them. This idea will also be important as a teacher one day because I will want my students to respect me, but in order for that to happen I need to show them that I am willing to hear their opinions and show them the same level of respect I
