In part one of the book it discusses the elements of music including the musical form in where songs utilize binary, call and response form, or ternary. One song that my brother and I grew up listening to, though it is a really old song, and uses call-and-response is “Shout” by The Isley Brothers. I believe that the song “Shout” uses call-and-response form because there is a constant question-and-answer pattern. An example of the call-and-response is “Don’t forget to say you will”…and Rudy and O 'Kelly join in by saying… “Say you
An Ode to Halloween As the leaves fall off the colorful trees, Fluttering to the ground with a slight breeze, They make barely a sound, Like a feather as it hits the ground, Bright colors, yellow, orange, and red, Like the feeling on Thanksgiving after being well fed, The leaves fall in a pile, one by one, And mark the time when summer is done, The leaves bring color to the crisp air, Bringing happiness, which can be rare, Appreciate the beauty of each leaf, As the departure will bring
This is Dicey’s first time on a plane. Dicey and Gram go into a hotel for the night, and on the next day, Gram and Dicey visit Momma in the hospital. The nurse there tells them that Momma is dying. Written by Stephen Sondheim, american actress Lilla Crawford sang the song “ I know things now” in the musical “Into the woods”. The singer expresses how she had a goal but as she continue her journey, she started to drift away from her goal stating “And he showed me things, many beautiful things that I hadn't thought to explore. They were off my path, so I never had dared. I had been so careful, I never had cared and he made me feel excited and scared.”
The Silent Killer Explication: “Alzheimer’s” by Kelly Cherry was published in 1997 during a time of personal struggle for Cherry and her dad. This short, free verse poem consists of twenty nine perplexing lines. The poet’s nontraditional placement of line breaks cause some ideas to fall off in mid-sentence, while others never complete the thought. This creates enjambments which mimic the disease’s confusing nature.
The cat was a witch in disguise. The kids in my book were always talking about the cats bright yellow eyes. The song also talks about the innocent kids who can’t defend themselves. In my book, the main character, Ethan, is a small puny boy.
Zaylie Ryan Mr. Thomas Korson English 1B 29 March 2018 Blurry Cow v. The Red Wheelbarrow Time is different for everyone that experiences it, as is poetry. What may seem like an eternity to some, may just be a fleeting moment to others. Such is the case with William Carlos Williams’, “The Red Wheelbarrow” and Chase Twitchell’s, “Blurry Cow”. While both poems touch on the passage of time, or rather a passing moment in time, “Blurry Cow” is more successful in triggering insightful thought and eloquently conveying the idea behind the work itself.
Little Richard first released “Tutti Frutti” in 1955, and Elvis Presley released his version in 1956. Both versions of the songs sound similar in that they invoke a feeling of happiness and a desire to get up and dance. However, these songs are not identical. The lyrics for both versions are almost identical except for a few extra non-word sounds at the end of some lines.
The song “Yankee Doodle Dandy” was utilized by the British in a satiric manner during the Revolutionary War, declaring the colonial troops as “country bumpkins” unfit for battle. Over the course of the war, the composition of “Yankee Doodle Dandy” adapted over one hundred and ninety versions varying in insults from the British criticizing the Americans and vice versa. Oftentimes during the battle, the British played the tune, mocking the rebels. Nearing the end of the war, this song obtained the title as the New Republic’s national anthem; despite the original objective of the piece. “Yankee Doodle Dandy” shares a similar tune to that of “Lucy Locket”, and the rendition performed throughout the duration of the Revolutionary War is believed

Theme: Friendship Song: “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” – Randy Newman “You've got a friend in me. You got troubles then I got them too. We stick together, we can see it through cause you've got a friend in me.” Justification: This song relates to the relationship George and Lennie had because even though Lennie was always getting in trouble, George was beside him no matter what. Also, when they got to the ranch, Slim said to them that is not common to see such good friends like George and Lennie, who travel together and look out for each other.
The anger Granny and Addie releases towards Richard makes him feel as if he cannot do anything right. Instead of fixing problems, they use the Bible and their religion as a weapon against Richard’s well being. He doesn’t seem to seem to understand how can they be devoted to something that promotes love, fellowship, and happiness but achieve to display the complete opposite. This song would be played during the event when Addie argues with Richard after causing Granny to
An experience of my own that involves a musical moment that brings a memory is a song called, “Hokey Pokey.” This is a nursery rhyme that children learn in elementary school. This song is an example of a musical moment that brings a memory to me because when I was in kindergarten, this song was played every day during dismissal time. While all of the students were waiting to be dismissed from the class the teacher would put this song every day. Meanwhile, the “Hokey Pokey” song played we would all get in a circle and start dancing to this song as a group.
The songs the characters sing contributes to the character development because they give traited to the beings signing. The first song is the song sung by the dwarves it shows that they are very determined, and adventurous. This is shown in the verse “in places deep, where dark things sleep” because being like hobbits would never do anything like that. They are also shown a determined to get their gold back from they war because in the verse “to win our harps gold back from him!”. Now the elves song has a whole nother characteristic because it shows that they are very jolly.
The five song playlist that I chose is Fireworks, Set fire to the rain, The way, Love the way you lie and Firestones. All of these songs relates to the novel in different ways. The song Fireworks by katy Perry relates to the novel Fahrenheit 451 because in this song it is saying if you ever feel Like a plastic bag drifting through the wind wanting to start again. Guy Montag had committed mistakes that he might regretted.
