I’m going to write more on Grant Penrod article ‘Why We Hate the Smart Kid’s’. I agree with Penrod, he is trying to let us know academics is just as important as the athletes are. For many student’s school is the best time for them. You have some who come to play sports and some who come for the academics. In any high school, you have a lot of different groups or cliques like jocks, stoners, nerds and many more. Out of the few I mentioned I am going to focus on the jocks and the nerds. Nerds are the ones who catch the most heat meaning they are the ones who get picked on the most it makes them feel bad about themselves.
Many students believe nerds think they’re so smart, I say this because I witness this before when I was in high school. Athletes (the celebrities) of school have a title to uphold so they go and bully the nerds around calling them out their names and one of the most common …show more content…

According to Penrod, “The Football team from Mountain view high school won the Arizona State championship last year, Again. Unbeknownst to the vast majority of the school's student body, so did the Science Bowl team, the Speech, and Debate team. And the Academic Decathlon team”. This is telling us, in any school system the ones who play sports always get this most attention but the ones who win a lot of academic games don't get any recognition that they deserve. Many people believe the smart kids will be okay in after they graduate high school, but the athletes only have one chance to prove themselves. Which isn't always true, there are athletes who play sports who one day own their own business not because they played sports but because they put effort into school, so they can get there.
