Before Title IX was made and passed women and girls in first, secondary school, and colleges were free to be discriminated upon. (Paige, pg. 2) Now some citizens and officials want to repeal the law under unusual circumstances; what kind of unusual circumstances? Under the fact that sports are being cut for funding “caused by Title IX” and it’s affecting the students and money the school has for a sporting department. People like Richard Epstein, an author in the Hoover Institution talk about this issue ”In hard times, budget dollars are still scarce(r), so the pressure to cut men’s teams becomes even greater.” (Epstein, para. 11) It’s very normal to think this way, high schoolers use sports for things such as scholarships and some can’t continue their education without them due to financial situations. …show more content…

It could be stated that sports in schools are being put under such stress to appease everyone that they lose funding. Title IX is the cause of the arguments since Patsy Mink wrote it in 1973, some believe that it’s even punishing male athletes. Even though those statistics are false, just like J.
