Juliet is one of the main characters in the play Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare. The two colours that best represents Juliet are gray that represents maturity and blue that represents loyalty. First, Juliet’s first colour that describes her is gray for her maturity. For example, when Romeo suggests the marriage idea, Juliet says: “It is too rash, too unadvised, too sudden, too like lightning” (Shakespeare 2.2.125-126). Although Juliet wants to marry Romeo, she thinks that it is still too fast to take this decisions. They just met few hour ago. When she says ‘too unadvised’ she means that she wants to ask someone for advice and support since there is hatred between the two families. In addition, the second colour that represent Juliet is blue that stands for loyalty. When Capulet and Lady Capulet decide to marry Juliet to Paris after she is already to married to Romeo. However, Juliet does not accept but also she does not dare to refuse. As a result, she tells her Nurse: “O God! O Nurse, how shall this be prevented? My husband is on earth, my faith in heaven. How shall that faith return again to earth unless that husband send it me from heaven by leaving earth?” (Shakespeare 3.5.216-220). This quotation shows how Juliet is loyal to Romeo. She does not want to marry Paris because she vows to Romeo to be his wife until death parts them. She feels that she will betray Romeo if she marries Paris. She asks her Nurse for advice and ways to prevent this marriage. This quotation also foreshadows Juliet's death when she says ‘unless that husband send it me from heaven’. This shows that because of love, she will sacrifice and die for Romeo. This develops the theme of suffering for love, and also develops Juliet’s character as a loyal wife.
