The Articles of Confederation was the first constitution of the United States. Although it was drafted by congress in 1777, it was not ratified by all thirteen states until 1781. Out of fear of creating a tyrannical government, the Articles of confederation actually allowed the states to be very much free and independent. Although that policy ensured a non-monarchist government, the liberation that was granted has its pros as well as its cons. From 1781 to 1789 the Articles of Confederation provided the United States with an effective government by giving the states freedom, however shortly crumbled due to the lack of stability.
The French Revolution started in 1789 and was ended in the late 1790s. The Revolution was driven by the French people's desire to redesign their country's corrupt and unjust Government. This thinking was brought up by the new ideals that the Enlightenment had created. To achieve this new Government, the people of Paris formed a coup d'etat against King Louis the Sixteenth. During the coup King Louis was beheaded by the Guillotine, thus starting what is known as “The Reign of Terror”.
The Reign of Terror In September 1793 to July 1794, the Reign of Terror killed over 40,000 people in France using the guillotine a machine that made it a simple way to execute a mass amount of people. The Reign of Terror was led by no other than , Robespierre. He was trying to form a new government but instead caused thousands of people to be massacred. Ultimately, The Reign of Terror in France was not justified because the threats did not require it, the methods were too extreme and It did not support the ideals of the revolution.
In a repressive regime, many people cannot conclude whether it was the fault of the people or the fault of the ruler. Without taking the people into consideration, new rulers come into the government, knowing how they want things to go, regardless of how the people feel. Stalin used his power, and fear to be sure that they were going to do what he wanted. Although while Stalin was getting power, the people were not aware of what was going on. The people were at fault because they sat back and watched the events unfold.
The main goal for the “Reign of Terror” was to get rid of Frances enemies of the war that was happening and protect the country from foreign invaders. There was another name for the “Reign of Terror” it was “The Terror.” This happened during the “French Revolution” between the ninth month of later seventeen hundred and the seventh month of the later seventeenth hundred. The Government decided to make the “Terror” the order of the day on September fifth. This was against those suspected of being enemies or against them.
Death was an everyday thing during the Reign of Terror. During the French Revolution, revolutionaries wanted a new government based on freedom for the people. There were some troubles throughout the French Revolution. In 1793 and 1794 was when the problems were heavy, because they used extreme measures to accomplish their goals. So, this brings up the question: Was the Reign of Terror justified?

In total 300,00 people were arrested, 17,000 were executed, and 10,000 presumably died in prison. The Reign of Terror was also organized by the twelve-man committee of safety.
