Have you ever wondered how we got the ideas to build the amazing Architecture of the world today? It all originated from one of the greatest Roman legacies. The quote "Rome fell but it's legacy lived in" was said to explain the situation Rome had been in thousands of years ago. To go further into detail, this quote is saying, that although when the once great empire Rome had fell, it's legacies had lived on. The legacies that we were fortunate enough to still continue and perfect, still strive today. The four legacies that lived on are: Roman art, language/writing, government and philosophy/law, and lastly what I believe to be the greatest Roman legacy is Roman Architecture and Engineering. Well on your way to work you may notice the wonderful, smooth roads that we drive on today. Well here's an interesting fact these roads original, were first built by Roman architects and engineers. "More than 50,000 miles of roads connected Rome with the frontiers of the empire. The Romans built their roads with layers of stone, sand and gravel." (Roman legacy reading). This quote shows that Romans were able to build and design a new way of transportation that helped civilizations all over the world. This made life easier for the people so they could not only travel but trade too. When roads were first designed they needed a way to dispose of water in case of rain, so they made the roads "crowned". This means to be higher in the center, so that water can flow down.
