Greg Mortenson is a 59 year old professional speaker, writer, veteran, and former mountaineer. He grew up traveling, when his parents’ went to Tanzania in 1958 to be teachers at an all girls school in the Usambara Mountains, and then they started to get more involved, and decided to help build hospitals and schools in villages that didn't have enough money. Mortenson walked into his parents’ footsteps after retiring from the military. He thrives to help children's education in countries and villages that can't afford to build schools and have teachers. Mortenson promotes and advocates children's education through his books Three Cups of Tea, Stones into Schools, and an interview on 60 Minutes. Mortenson's book Three Cups of Tea impacted children's education.
