Some days crime rates are up and then the next they are down, what we do know is that America is becoming safer. In 2005, 11,346 persons were killed by firearm violence 477,040 persons were victims of a crime committed with a firearm, (National Institute of Justice). Surprisingly, a lot of gun violence in America is related to self defense. Between 1987 and 1990 it was found that guns were used in defense during a crime incident 64,615 times annually. This equates to two times out of 1,000 incidents (0.2%) that occurred in this time frame.

The first step to achieve this would be providing a more intensive background check and screening for mental illnesses for people who wish to purchase firearms. The irony that this man can purchase a deadly assault weapon but cannot buy a beer is almost enough to laugh. Almost. Among first world countries, the United States is one of the worst for deaths by guns, both homicides and suicides. Every other first world country has extensive restrictions on gun access and see much lower rates of gun violence and gun death in comparison to America.

Although, I didn 't understand what your previous speech was about. I have an idea that your last speech was about gun control due to your examples in this discussion. You had great counterarguments about gun control such as, taking away the right to bare arms is putting more people at risk than if we were to just keep the guns.
